Climate change impacts in Poland - what the IPCC 4th Assessment Report has found:

  • White stork (Ciconia ciconia) range expansions in elevation, 240 m during last seventy years (due to increased temperature) [1.3.5.2].
  • Studies from eastern Poland (and Asia, Europe and Japan) find that various birds and mammals exhibit trends toward larger body size, probably due to increasing food availability, with regionally increasing temperatures [1.3.5.4].
  • By 2070s, a 100year drought of today’s magnitude would return, on average, more frequently than every 10 years in the Vistula Basin in Poland (and parts of Portugal, Spain, western France and western Turkey) [3.4]
