Panasonic (Matsushita Electronic Industrial Co. Ltd.)

The semi-enclosed Yellow Sea is located between China and Korea and is one of the largest shallow areas of continental shelf in the world. It is home to a diverse range of species, including dugongs, grey whales, marine turtles and rich fish life.
Large-scale land reclamations of important coastal wetland, frequent and extensive breakout of red tides, a massive inflow of pollutants from urban/industrial and farm areas and over-fishing are all taking their toll in the Yellow Sea ecoregion. Multinational collaboration and the participation of local people are required to deal with these issues to ensure the conservation of biodiversity and the promotion of sustainable resource use.
In addition to supporting the YSESP, Panasonic - with WWF’s support - will develop a responsible paper purchasing policy. A responsible purchasing programme for forest products aims to improve the environmental and social performance of the supply base by ending the purchase of products that contain timber from illegal or controversial sources and by continuously increasing the proportion of forest products that contain timber from credibly certified forests.
