Climate change impacts in the Netherlands - what the IPCC 4th Assessment Report has found:

  • Very susceptible to both sea level rise and river flooding because 55% of its territory is below sea level and 60% of its population lives on this territory and 65% of its GNP is produced here [12.2.3].
  • Thermophilic (warmth-requiring) plant species have become significantly more frequent compared with 30 years ago. In contrast, there has been a small decline in the presence of traditionally cold-tolerant species [1.3.5.2]
