WWF works with individuals and communtities around the world to highlight environmental impacts related to climate change. These include: rising sea levels, coral bleaching, violent storms, disappearing species, changes in local biodiversity, deadly heat waves, and drought.

Every day, in his clinic in Tanba City, Hyogo Prefecture, Dr Shinzo Waku comes into contact with patients of different generations. One of the things he is particularly emphasizing in recent years is the local “sunstroke prevention workshops,” not only because of the heat wave last year, but also because he feels that the risk of sunstroke has been rising rapidly. » Read more

In Chichibu, Saitama Prefecture, Asami Tetsuo is the fifth generation to head his company which has been making ice since 1890. He took over the business from his father 17 years ago and has been using traditional methods to make ice until today. He can now only produce ice once a year instead of the two annual “harvests” that were possible back in the mid 1950s. Even in December, the cold is not sustained enough to produce adequate ice. » Read more

Mbiwo Constantine Kusebahasa is a farmer at the foot of the Rwenzori Mountains in Kasese, western Uganda. Born in 1938, he has seen the glaciers on the mountains recede. Rainfall has become erratic affecting his source of livelihood, agriculture. He has seen and increase in malaria due to warmer temperatures. » Read more

René Muré has been making wine in the Alsace region of France for 25 years and his family have been in the industry for 11 generations. Joseph Kones is a farmer in Bomet on the Mau escarpment, a principle water catchment in Kenya’s Rift Valley. Over the last 20 years, he has seen gradual change in the climate. Tony Fontes is a dive instructor with PADI and has spent 30 years on the Great Barrier Reef. He has noticed a significant increase in the amount of coral bleaching, which has lead to the death of coral and a decline in the diversity of marine life in bleached areas.
