WWF climate work in Asia Pacific
In Asia-Pacific, pollution projections from the energy sector are staggering, and if unchecked will impede the region’s development. The impacts of climate change in particular will hit the poorer countries and communities hardest.
WWF focuses on 3 key issues in the region:
We also draw on our experience of managing climate change to promote the understanding of climate impacts and are working with local communities in pilot projects to ensure that impacts management incorporates local knowledge and management strategies. We also tackle the lack of resources within governments to manage climate issues, as well as capacity building to facilitate strategic planning.
WWF focuses on 3 key issues in the region:
- Raising awareness of electricity and the true cost of power, as well as the practical alternatives to the use of fossil fuel.
- The significance of public participation and good governance in the power sector reform process.
- The synergies between cutting emissions, enhancing security of energy supply and reducing overcapacity; and the investment opportunities offered by renewable energy.

WWF helps protect Australia's Great Barrier Reef, most of which could be dead within 50 years if we don't act now.
