Responsible forestry: Modular Implementation and Verification Toolkit

A practical tool for the application of forest management standards and certification

The Modular Implementation and Verification (MIV) toolkit provides a practical tool for achieving a phased or step-wise application of forest management standards and certification.

Making certification more accessible
It is now widely recognised that the process of implementing responsible forestry standards and achieving forest certification is very challenging. With the help of the MIV toolkit, certification becomes more accessible to forest managers in many parts of the world.

Modular Implementation and Verification (MIV) provides a practical solution through a set of predetermined modules which, like the standards themselves, cover legal, technical, environmental and social issues. Each of the modules covers a topic or issue such as management planning, health and safety or conservation. All the requirements of the standard which relate to that topic are included in the module.

Who is it used by?
The tool is being used by the WWF Global Forest and Trade Network's (GFTN) Producer Groups.
