Current Population and Distribution
The Cross River gorilla is restricted to a small area of highland forest on the border of Cameroon and Nigeria. Its range is about 200 km² across a total area of around 2,500 km².
Its total population is only around 300 individuals, divided into several subpopulations - some of which number no more than 20 individuals. Many of these are found in unprotected forest.
