Cyrille Ekoumo, Forest Officer Officer
Cyrille EKOUMOU is a graduate of the Department of Agronomy and Agricultural sciences of the University of Dschang in Cameroon. Shortly after receiving his diploma as a Water and Forestry Engineer in 2000, he began a consultancy work with SNV, a Dutch development organization. He also served as a consultant for two projects; the first financed by the Cameroon government known as “Community Forest Development Project’’ and the second known as Department For International Development DFID-FRR. He has a broad expertise in areas such as capacity building for local NGOs, community based forest management, and the ‘Sustainable Yield Monitoring System’. Cyrille has also acquired some skills in cartography having worked as a cartographer at the Thanry Group, a wood processing company operating in Cameroon. He joined WWF in 2004 and was posted in ‘Pallisco’, a logging company, where he was instrumental in the implementation of the company’s management plans within the framework of the ‘Sustainable Management Project’. Forest certification is one the areas Cyrille has expertise and particular interest in. He has worked on the issue with the Central Africa Forest and Trade Network within the framework of the Global Forest and Trade Network of WWF International. Cyrille Ekoumou is the current Forest Policy Officer at the WWF Kudu-Zombo Programme in Campo is now providing technical support to WIJMA
(a Dutch logging company) in its forest certification process.
