George AKWAH

George is a trained social scientist (social/cultural anthropologist, specialization in environmental anthropology) with an advanced university degree (M.A.). He has accumulated eight years of progressive experience and responsibility in the domains of research and programs management/administration in the forest sector and natural resources (strategic land use planning at landscape levels, integrated conservation and livelihood planning and implementation), governance (anti-corruption) and sustainable development planning and implementation, with strong focus on community-based programs in Central African countries including Cameroon, Gabon, the Republic of Congo, and the postwar Democratic Republic of Congo. George has a good understanding and practical use of the USAID PMP (Performance Management Plan) that he applied within the USAID-funded projects in which he was part of in the DRC between 2003 and 2007.
Since December 2007, George is the Coordinator of the Kudu-Zombo Programme, being implemented by WWF in the Campo-Ma’an region. The programme aims to improve the living conditions of the populations around the Campo-Ma’an national park through a sustainable use of natural resources. George’s role is therefore crucial in the successful implementation of the new conservation programme which is a pilot initiative in the Central African region.
