Gilles ETOGA,
Protected Area Advisor

Gilles Etoga is a Wildlife, Fishery and Forest Engineer. He graduated from the Forestry Department of the then Dschang University Center-Cameroon in 1991 before being enrolled in the public service. For over 15years, he worked in the Cameroon Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife where he assisted in wildlife and forestry laws enforcement, the Designing and implementation of the Cameroon National anti-poaching Strategy and the implementation of the Bushmeat strategy in Cameroon as Cameroon Bushmeat working Group focal point. Gilles joined WWF in 2005 as Manager of the WWF Northern Savannah project. In that capacity, he Coordinated all WWF activities in the northern part of Cameroon; assisted the Benoue National Park Conservator and the Waza National Park in the elaboration and implementation of antipoaching strategy; assisted the Benoue National Park in the implementation of the Park Management Plan, and elaborated and implemented the flagship species ecological monitoring in Benoue and Waza National Parks.
Gilles has extensive experience in the management of protected areas where he has spent the greater part of his professional life. He has carried out several inventories of large mammals and great apes in many conservation sites in Cameroon. Since April 2007, Gilles ETOGA is Protected Area Advisor at the WWF Kudu-Zombo Programme in Campo-Ma’an.
