WWF in Côte d'Ivoire: Our solutions

Protecting the largest undisturbed rainforest in West Africa

You could say we have a vested interest in Taï National Park. This World Heritage Site, the single-largest tract of undisturbed tropical rainforest in West Africa, was established in 1972 under the joint recommendation of WWF and IUCN.

Three decades later, WWF is still deeply involved in the Park, working with the government of Côte d’Ivoire and other partners. Right now, our priorities are:
  • To support the Directorate for the Protection of Nature for the monitoring of an ongoing conservation project
  • To strengthen environmental awareness among the neighbouring population
  • To define and implement an ecotourism development plan
