How to get to where this project operates
Paying a visit
If you would like to visit the Masai Mara and take advantage of the fact that in the TransMara you can leave your vehicle and hike around the hills, then you have two main options once you are in Kenya. By road
One is to take the road out of Nairobi that heads East towards the south western border with Tanzania, and in the direction of Lake Victoria. It's not a bad road for half the time, but for the rest of the 6 hours that it takes, bumpy may actually be an understatement! Saying that, you really do feel like you are heading out into the wilds.
By plane
The alternative is to catch a plane and land on the plain, to just outside the boundary of the Masai National Reserve - there are scheduled flights from Wilson Airport Nairobi, which take about 40 to 45 minutes.
Where to stay
The Masai intend to build their own lodges and camps in the TransMara region, but until these are set up, you can also stay at existing camps such as Kichwa Tembo, Mara River and the Little Governor's. (Links to external sites do not mean their endorsement by WWF.)
