Keen for change

As the Niger River winds its way through West Africa, responsibility for its wellbeing shifts from one country to the other - countries such as Niger, Mali, and Nigeria, which benefit from the river's many services.

Throughout the river's basin, WWF is trying to achieve several things:
  • Develop and put into practice sustainable development activities
  • Consolidate the legal and institutional framework, in order to improve cooperation between the riparian countries of the Niger River Basin
  • Develop water resources in the Niger River Basin in a sustainable and equitable manner so as to promote prosperity, security and peace for all the populations living in the basin
