Mammals of the Greater Mekong
Some you know and some new to science
Some of the most majestic mammals roam the grasslands and rainforests of the Greater Mekong, along with species previously unknown to science, including the saola, first announced by WWF in 1992.But they, along with the once plentiful tiger, elephant and rhinoceros, are threatened with extinction. WWF is actively working to protect these species by preserving their habitat, fighting their commercial trade and supporting eco-tourism.
