Help track down rare and amazing species

Staff of the WWF Greater Mekong Programme's MOSAIC project could use a little help locating and documenting some of those rare and elusive creatures found nowhere else in the world.

People can do this by sending the project film and batteries for the camera traps set in the forests of Quang Nam to record the occurrence of the recently discovered saola and the dark annamite muntjac, both endemic to this area of Vietnam and Lao PDR, as well as the better known but nevertheless equal rare elephants and tigers that still inhabit these forests.

Support the main stakeholders: The next generation
The MOSAIC project is based on the participation of local people in the management of their forests so that they can continue to benefit and support future generations. When students from the nearby high school were recruited to help build a 3-D model of their community and adjacent lands, they were delighted to be able to have access to fresh paper, and coloured pencils, as they usually lack such school basics.

Help support the local community by sending school notebooks, rulers, scissors, coloured pencils and other school supplies to the students.

Share your knowledge
The project would also appreciate hearing from other scientists and conservationists with any records on the unique species of Quang Nam so that this information can be included in the project's data base.

Support your local WWF office
We all share one planet so your support for conservation, whether at home or here in Vietnam, is vitally important. Be aware of the issues and express your concerns to your elected representative. Donations are also always appreciated.
