The most important task, if we are to save the Earth, is to educate.
Peter Scott, one of the founders of WWF

Since its inception in 1997, WWF Greater Mekong Programme's Environmental Education Unit has been working to motivate and engage all people in Vietnam to actively participate in conserving biodiversity and managing natural resources.

Across the region, environmental education has become a critical component of all of WWF’s conservation efforts.

Our goal...
To build Government, non-government and local institutional and staff capacity to deliver skill-based awareness and education programs which encourage positive behavioral change of all key target groups that have an impact on the natural environment.

Our approach...
WWF’s approach to environmental education is interactive and participatory. Applying this, we foster positive attitudes, inform about issues, and provide skills to conserve resources.

This engages individuals in an educational process that enables them to analyze, make their own educated decisions about the environment and allow them to continue with good environmental practices and adopt new ways of behaving that conserves natural resources.

Our reasons...

  • If people don’t know about and understand the environment problems and its related issues, provide them with information.
  • If people know but don’t care about the environment problems and its related issues, then target attitude and values first.
  • If they know and care about the environment problems and its related issues but have no option or skills, then provide options and skills.
