Anti Polythene Bag Campaign in KCA
The Eco Club members of the Kangchenjunga Conservation Area (KCA) actively participated in the Anti Polythene Bag Campaign organized by the Kangchenjunga Conservation Area Project (KCAP).With the aim to disseminate information to a large audience, the campaign was launched during a hattiya (local market) at Phungling VDC of Taplejung District.
Eco Club members played a crucial role by participating in a rally with Anti Polythene bag slogans and pamphlets and by selling the jute bags to the local people. Jute bags were sold at minimal rates to encourage the use of jute bags instead of polythene bags.
More than 500 Eco club members from 6 different schools actively participated in the program. It was also a very good opportunity for the eco Club members to generate funds for their Eco Clubs.
Save Rhino Tiger campaign in Chitwan National Park
Save Rhino Tiger Campaign was jointly organized by the Department of Nation Parks and Wildlife Conservation and WWF Nepal in the Chitwan National Park in the Buffer Zone against the increasing rate of poaching in the area.During the campaign, the Eco Club members of the buffer zone were briefed about the reasons for poaching of the endangered species - the Greater One-horned Rhinoceros and the Tiger.
As their contribution, the students wrote letters to the manufacturers and consumers of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and to the people who use clothes, made out of these animals' skins requesting them not to manufacture and use the TCM and clothes, made out of bones, skin and horns of these animals.
A total of 1,207 letters Were collected from the campaign from 6 different schools in the Chitwan National Park Buffer Zone. 1,207 students Were actively involved in the Save Rhino Tiger Campaign and the collected letters Were sent to China , Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia and Thailand through the WWF Network.
