Communication Making Positive Changes
WWF Nepal believes in using communication as a tool for achieving the goal of a better quality of environment and thereby a better quality of life. Thus, WWF Nepal is using print as well as audio / visual outputs to keep both the media and the general public informed on conservation issues.
Quaterly newsletter
The Communications Division produces a Quaterly newsletter “Eco Circular” and other publications; runs feature services to different newspapers and magazines, conducts campaigns on different occasions and organizes television and radio programs to meet the challenge of a largely uninformed public on issues of environment and development and make the common person understand what exactly conservation means.
Information Sharing and Knowing
Information collection, sharing and dissemination have been an important aspect of WWF Nepal.
WWF Nepal has been actively working towards biodiversity conservation as well as strengthening the capacity of the community, hence WWF Nepal’s work is projected towards awareness raising in the communities.
Activities like street theatre, songs, radio and TV programs and workshops are constantly being organized and supported by WWF Nepal. They play a massive role in building up an effective information system. Besides, the immense importance of publications, be it posters, bookmarks, newsletters, magazines or books cannot be downplayed.
WWF Nepal’s communications department serves as the core center of information collection, documentation and dissemination.
WWF Nepal Documentation Center
The WWF Nepal Documentation Center has a collection of books and a fairly large collection of reports on various issues such a biodiversity, conservation, protected Areas, sustainable livelihoods. Along with that, the library also has a considerable collection of photographs and slides. Currently the library system is being digitized in the ISIS system.
