Our Activities in Singapore
Singapore represents one of the strongest Asian economies whose regional role is of high importance. It serves as a regional hub for many businesses and industries. WWF is active in conservation programmes in over 22 countries in the Asia Pacific region. By forging partnerships with companies and investors located in Singapore and working together with the government, other NGOs and the Singapore community, WWF in Singapore is working to deliver positive and lasting change in the Asia Pacific region.
Business solutions for the environment: we form progressive partnerships with business and industry to jointly identify solutions for environmental issues and conservation programmes in Asia Pacific and advance the dialogue on environmentally sound business practices.
Sustainable development outreach: we team up with business and industry to engage, dialogue and raise awareness among their staff, customers and other stakeholder on the environment. We share lessons and experience from our conservation programmes across Asia Pacific.
Solutions with businesses
WWF Singapore engages in challenging and innovative partnerships with business to drive positive change. The greatest environmental challenges are climate change, moving to renewable energy systems and clean technologies and ensuring the sustainable use of natural resources such as timber, fish and agricultural products. We are demonstrating together with business and industry, that there are win-win solutions to these challenges.
The Global Forest & Trade Network helps conserve the worlds forest’s while providing economic and social benefits for the businesses. The GFTN, now active in nearly 30 countries, many in Asia Pacific is proving to be a highly successful market driven solution to the destructive illegal timber trade.
WWF is actively working to promote sustainable investment in the palm oil sector. One key initiative is the development of a Handbook that will help banks to screen palm oil sector investments.
Through our Climate Savers Business Initiative, WWF is working with international leading corporations to help them reduce their climate impact.
The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certification, co-founded by WWF and Unilever, is aiming to create market incentives for sustainable fishing.
