New Finnish National Park becomes the first marine area to be certified as Best of Europe’s wilderness
Archipelago National Park in the Baltic Sea has received recognition this week of being one of the best managed wilderness areas in Europe. As a result of undergoing an intensive independent assessment of its conservation, visitor management and sustainable tourism development it received the coveted status of being a certified PAN Park. Kure National Park in Turkey takes first steps to becoming a PAN Park
Kure Mountains National Park has taken the first steps in their plan to become the first certified PAN Park in Turkey. The letter of intent was signed by Ismail Mentes of Kure Mountain National Park and Suade Arancli from Ministry of Environment and Forestry at the Europe's Wilderness Days meeting in Finland. » Read more

Retezat secures LIFE project for Alpine conservation
Retezat National Park in Romania has secured EU LIFE funding for a major new initiative for the conservation of alpine habitats. The Retezat Mountains are one of the most species rich areas dedicated to nature protection in Romania and are listed as a UNESCO Biosphere reserve because of their importance internationally. As one of Europe’s best wilderness areas, Retezat is a member of the PAN Parks network. » Read more

Dutch readers support Bulgarian PAN Park
The Dutch outdoor magazine OpPad has launched a special fundraising campaign for PAN Parks among its readers. The OpPad editors have adapted a plan from Central Balkan National Park to convert two former poacher shelters into a new information center.
