NTFPs and PES, ensuring the conservation of cork oak forests by increasing their economic and social values
“How can we help forest owners, users and managers to get revenue to maintain forested ecosystems that preserve biodiversity and environmental services?”
Targeting Cork Oak Programme field teams (WWF staff, partner NGOs, partner foresters and researchers), this training aimed at sharing knowledge and methodologies on economic evaluation of non timber forest products (NTFPs) and payment for environmental services (PES) schemes. Furthermore, the training demonstrated and discussed how these can contribute to the sustainable management of cork oak forests, enhancing thus their economic, social and environmental values while addressing the threats behind degradation / overexploitation trends.
