A day with Ints Mednis at Lake Pape

When staying at WWF's Information Centre in Lake Pape, Ints will always have a lot of plans, and a schedule.

07.00
Over a cup of coffee, read mail, write letters to partners, local stakeholders, municipalities.

09.30
Drive around the project, check specific areas, meet with some stakeholders or staff.

12.00
Eat a quick lunch, usually in the car, unless work lunch is scheduled.

13.00
Meet with outsiders: potential donors, supporters, journalists, and visitors.

14.30
Managing the practical work in the field: cutting grass, posting signals, cleaning, taking pictures.

16.30
Switch on computer, work on the project report, enter technical data, and download pictures and information gathered during the day.

18.30
Drive to local villages, visit a few residents or partners, get food for dinner or have dinner in a local restaurant, then drive back to WWF's Information Centre. In total, Ints Mednis spends one third of his time in Lake Pape. "Here, time has a different value, you are in the remote countryside, you cannot arrange your agenda like in Riga," explains Ints. "You need to visit people, to talk to them. A lot of time is consumed by driving to their place, spending some time with them, then driving to the next place, and so on..."
