The main objective of the Llanos program is to promote conservation, sustainable use, and improvement of the quality of life in the Llanos ecoregion in Venezuela. Below are the main projects:
- Conservation and Sustainable Use of Biodiversity. With this project we hope to implement action that will minimize the impact that development is causing on natural resources in the Llanos. This project is supported by the GEF.
- Network of Private Conservation Areas . The aim of this project is the creation of an association of landowners who apply conservation activities on their lands. The Venezuelan Llanos were chosen as a starting point, but it is expected that the project will be extended to other areas. The project is being carried out thanks to the support of WWF-UK.
The Northern Andean Montane Forest Ecorregional Program
Promotion of the conservation of biodiversity and priority ecological processes in the Andean ecosystems and the sustainable use of associated resources are the main goals of this program.
The ecological corridor in the Portuguesa Range , is one of the major porjects being developed by FUDENA. This project proposes the creation of an ecological corridor between the national parks of the Portuguesa Range (Yacambú, Terepaima, Dinira, Guache, and Guaramacal). The idea is to guarantee the interconnection and genetic flow between these areas that are currently isolated.
At the same time, FUDENA is actively involved in different areas of the Ecoregional Comlpex of the Northern Andes. All the projects being developed in the Venezuelan Andes are within the framework of conservation priorities that are defined for this ecoregion.
