Bolivian River Dolphin: Conservation Ambassador for the Department of Beni in Bolivia
Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, April 23rd, 2008. The Bolivian river dolphin (Inia boliviensis) was declared by the Prefecture of the Department of Beni (northeastern Bolivia) as a Natural Heritage. This recognition highlights the value placed on the conservation of this species, the freshwater ecosystems in the Beni where it lives and the country in general.

Santa Cruz, Bolivia - On March 28th, WWF Bolivia, the conservation organization, was awarded a special recognition on behalf of the Bolivian Forestry Chamber for its contribution to the forest sector. The award was received by WWF Bolivia’s Country Representative, Mr. Roger Landivar, during the swearing in ceremony of the Forestry Chamber's Board of Directors during the fourth Wood Industry Business Roundtable, of which WWF and its GFTN (Global Forest and Trade Network) also took part, with the participation of over 30 international GFTN member businessmen. » Read more

Earth Hour in Bolivia: Santa Cruz turned off the lights of its main square for an hour this Saturday
The lights were turned off as a symbolic support of the global Earth Hour 2008 campaign, in order to promote energy saving to fight climate change.
Santa Cruz de la Sierra, a 1.5 million inhabitant city located in eastern Bolivia, is one of the three Latin American cities – along with Buenos Aires and Bogota – to join the fight against climate change and global warming, led by the global conservation organization, WWF, under its Earth Hour 2008 campaign. » Read more
