Most people call it a paradise.
It's a name that conjures up many images in the mind. Many emotions in the heart. It's a name that, unfortunately, we don't often hear applied to many of the places we have left on this planet.
Why? Because paradises these days are often rarer than the endangered animals that are found within their borders.
Because paradises, sadly, are disappearing.
So when we hear of one that is still intact but in danger, and that we have a very real chance to save it, then that chance must be taken.
No delay. No hesitation. No second thoughts.
Here. Today. Now is when I ask you to take that chance. To take action. To do something.
To take up the opportunity that we've so often missed in the past.
To take the necessary action to help save one of Africa's last remaining paradises.
The Gamba Complex in Gabon, central Africa, is the place where I work.
It boasts an unimaginable array of diversity - both in terms of life and landscapes. Tropical forests fringe tropical beaches. Rolling hills proudly preside over lagoons and rivers. Elephants live next to gorillas live next to leatherback turtles live next to humans... and there-in lies the problem. The threat. The challenge.
What I'm asking of you today is to help me. To help me and my colleagues keep this paradise intact - but I am not asking you to simply donate; I am asking you to invest (even the smallest amount of money) into the work that we are doing to conserve the beauty and diversity of the Gamba Complex.
Because as an investor I will report back to you on your investment, at regular intervals, over the lifetime of this WWF project.
