Help the Virunga Gorillas!
1st November: Your magnificent help has meant we could buy 1,100m3 of firewood for the displaced people.

Gorillas unprotected
Because of the fighting Park Rangers have been forced to abandon their posts - leaving the gorillas completely unprotected.
Fighting in the Congo has meant 40,000 people are trying to escape the conflict.
They are setting up camps in areas next to the Virunga World Heritage park.
Virunga is home to the critically endangered mountain gorilla. Now these displaced people need wood. To cook, to heat... to live.
And the only wood available is in Virunga - with the gorillas.
Already 9 gorillas have been killed since January because of unrest in the area. And cutting down the trees and taking the wood will place them under further pressure. Destroying their home, their habitat, their sources of food.
- We must help the people with their need for wood!
- We need to help the gorillas survive!
- To do this we need to protect Virunga!
We need your help to get wood to the people. Wood that doesn't come from Virunga. We know where that wood is. But it costs.
Can you help?
Not tomorrow but today. Now.
The situation is critical. Timing is everything.
If we act, and act now, we save gorillas, we help the people, and we protect one of the worlds most outstanding natural places.
How much wood will you buy for them?
That's fantastic!
