Find the bears now
Google Earth & WWF
It is now possible to find the bears on Google Earth!
Google Earth offers detailed satellite images of the entire globe and allows you to zoom in on locations and explore your own back yard or places on the other side of the world. On this page you can download a KMZ file, which can be opened in Google Earth and show you the different paths taken by the polar bears that we are following on the Polar Bear Tracker.
Download the Google Earth files and start following the bears:
- Svalbard, Norway [KML file] updates automatically
- Southern Beaufort Sea, Alaska [KMZ file] updated weekly
To see where the polar bears were on a particular date or animate their movements over the past few months, you can play with the options on the timeline toolbar in Google Earth.
If you need help with the timeline toolbar, use the tutorial from the NSIDC.

Happy tracking!
