What you can do

Want to help save the Coral Triangle?

We could really do with your help. Whether you are watching Nemo on TV from the comfort of your sofa or actually floating above a coral reef, you have the means to help WWF make a difference in the Coral Triangle. Can’t find what you’re looking for here? Send us an email.

Report climate change on your doorstep

If you are traveling in or around the Coral Triangle and you think you're witnessing odd climatic events, we want to hear from you. WWF's Climate Witness Programme raises the voices of people from all over the world who are observing the changes brought by climate change on their local environment. Find out more here

Choose good fish

Tuna for sale at the Tokyo Fish Market, Japan.
Often eat fish? Then you may want to ensure it was caught legally and sustainably. Here is some guidance.

Dive responsibly

Diver with giant clam.
If you dive or snorkel, don't touch reefs or marine animals! Keep yourself and your scuba gear off coral reefs. And try to stay off the bottom: stirred-up sediment can settle on coral and smother it.

Diving fanatics may consider joining PADI's Project Aware, a nonprofit organization dedicated to conserving underwater environments through education, advocacy and action.

Keep your aquarium ethical

Better than your home aquarium: thriving sea life below mangrove in Bali Barat.
Only buy marine aquarium fish if you know they have been collected in an ecologically sound manner. In some areas, marine fish harvested for the pet trade have been captured using sodium cyanide, which is extremely damaging for coral reefs. Want more? Check the Marine Aquarium Council website.

Get support for student research in the Coral Triangle

Every year 10 fellows (third year to fourth year college students and those taking masteral studies are qualified to apply) are awarded the Life and Livelihood Summer Fellowship.

This programme matches undergraduate and graduate students with fields of study relevant to marine conservation and its socio-institutional,  economic, and biological aspects in coastal and small island communities.
