An Ark for the Pacific

It’s not every day that you see a massive island still pulsating with the life of a vast, dense tropical rainforest.

It is even more rare to find tropical islands where glaciers still – barely – cover mountain-peaks that reach beyond 5,000 m. An island that has given life to strange creatures such as tree kangaroos and huge pigeons, and an abundance of orchids.

Where countless rivers bounce down mountain forests before settling into a leisurely flow to the sea through open savannas and grassland.

New Guinea is such an island - a place where nature has really gone wild.

This is also the place where our inherent, primordial links to the Earth remain as strong as ever.

So what are we to do when illegal logging, over-hunting and wildlife exploitation threaten to wipe out this island magic?
