Biotechnology could cut C02 sharply, help build green economy
Industrial biotechnology has the potential to save the planet up to 2.5 billion tons of CO2 emissions per year and support building a sustainable future, a WWF report found.
The Certified Forest Walkway
On Tuesday, September 15 at 7.30 pm the Certified Forest Walkway, located on Av. Salle between the 3rd and 4th ring in the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, will be inaugurated. The Walkway, which is a joint initiative between the Municipal Autonomous Government, WWF (the global conservation organization) and the Bolivian Forestry Chamber, has been designated to celebrate the commitment of this municipality with the conservation of forests in Bolivia, as well as offering an area for recreation and raising awareness of the important role cities play as beneficiaries and users of forests in the region and the country in general.
The Municipality of Santa Cruz and its adoption of a Responsible Purchase Policy for Wood Products
WWF Bolivia, the conservation organization, as part of its Cities for Forests initiative under its Forest Programme, has signed, in 2007, an agreement with the Municipal Government of Santa Cruz de la Sierra through which this city government commits to adopting, with support from WWF, a responsible purchasing policy for wood products.
September 4th: National Protected Areas Day in Bolivia
It has been 11 years since the institutionalization in terms of the functioning of the Sernap (National Service for Protected Areas) in 1998, a decentralized unit of the former Ministry of Sustainable Development responsible for coordinating the functioning of the National Protected Areas System and guaranteeing its integral management. G8 countries have so far failed to take sufficient action to protect the world against climate change. The latest G8 Climate Scorecards report shows that Germany, followed by the UK and France, is performing better than the rest of the rich nations’ group.
