WWF in Mexico - Threats to local biodiversity

Despite the establishment of environmental laws by federal and state governments, the environment continues to face a variety of threats such as:

  • Overexploitation of natural resources.
  • Agricultural expansion and overgrazing.
  • Water mismanagement and water pollution.
  • Coastal developments.
  • Commercial fishing.
  • Human induced forest fires.
  • Illegal logging.
