Mongolia has relatively low forest cover (FAO) with just over 8 percent of the country covered by closed forests. Faced with the problem of dwindling forests and its ecological consequences,the Government has been giving emphasis to forest conservation in the recent (post 1990)ecological balance, enhance beneficial influences of forest and control desertification.
