"Public participation in Mining activity" training workshop, 07 Feb.2007
As a part of a project funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) on “Public Monitoring of Corruption in the Mongolian Mining Sector”, WWF Mongolia organised a training workshop entitled “Public Participation in Mining Activity” from 4 to 8 February in Ulaanbaatar.
The workshop was a cooperative effort with other NGOs, including the Center of Human Health Rights and Development, Khovsogol Dalai Ezed, Onon-Ulz and Center of Civil Education.
In attendance at the workshop were the above mentioned NGOs and participants from civil environmental movements from Khovsgol, Selenge and Khentii provinces. The workshop allowed introduction to, and discussion about, newly adopted laws on mining and anti-corruption. Implementation of the laws was outlined, together with potential conflicts with mining interests and violations that may occur.
