Summary

The programme includes priority policy and advocacy work that does not fall within other programme areas, including global policy events such the International Whaling Commission (IWC), World Parks Congress, World Conservation Congress, and domestic general policy.

Background

The programme ensures that WWF New Zealand is engaged in policy debate - either at international or domestic levels - that are important for our credibilty and help to achieve our global and national conservation objectives.

Objectives

WWF New Zealand’s main objectives are to maintain engagement with the IWC, and other global events relevant to WWF's work. Work also focuses on domestic policy development and consultations not covered in other programme areas, but relevant to WWF goals. An example of this work includes coordination of a Cetacean action plan coordination.
