Summary
This programme implements the WWF ecoregional planning approach in New Zealand to move forward the stages of ecoregion conservation, and promote the adoption and implementation of marine protected areas in New Zealand.
Objectives
- Establish an ecoregion-based conservation process which leads to identification of priorities and a series of actions to address the threats to them.
- Establish a network of marine protected areas by influencing government processes, such as the marine protected area (MPA) strategy, and promoting independent science based approaches to the identification of MPAs.
